Analysis of steel flooring types

Feb. 20, 2024

Currently, there are three commonly used types of metal steel flooring, namely embedded steel floor tiles and adhesive steel flooring.

Embedded steel floor tiles (commonly used specifications are 300*300mm) have the advantage of being firmly installed. However, the disadvantage is that they require a certain amount of space during installation. Repairing old floors requires digging down about 10cm, which involves significant engineering volume. The curing process takes approximately 6 to 10 days. Embedded steel floor tiles are suitable for use in new factory construction.

Adhesive steel flooring (commonly used specifications are 600*600mm) has the advantage of low cost. During installation, the original floor needs to be polished and glued, leading to higher installation costs. The adhesive strength is not as strong as embedded flooring, and installation may produce dust. The curing time is approximately 12 to 24 hours.

Steel flooring materials are divided into cold-rolled plates and stainless steel. The most commonly used for construction in automobile manufacturing enterprises are galvanized cold-rolled plates and stainless steel SUS304, with thicknesses ranging from 1.5 to 3mm. Stainless steel SUS304 is used in special environmental workshops due to its excellent corrosion resistance.

For 300*300mm embedded floor tiles, the thickness is recommended not to exceed 2.0mm. This type of flooring is fixed during concrete installation. Since the floor serves as the surface protection of the ground, the load-bearing capacity of the ground mainly depends on the thickness and quality of the base layer. The depth of embedding the steel flooring into the ground is 28mm. If the steel flooring is too thick, the internal stress of the steel plate will be too high, and frequent vehicle rolling may not provide cushioning. This can lead to separation between the steel floor and the concrete.

For 600*600mm adhesive steel flooring, the surface is laid flat during installation, without the need for downtime or cessation of work. No adhesive glue is used during installation, and there is no odor. Each steel tile is tightly locked in place by precise buckles and adjacent steel tiles, preventing displacement. The gap between each steel tile is approximately 0.3mm, ensuring a tight, neat, and aesthetically pleasing installation with minimal chances of foreign object entry. The slope yellow border with warning lines is easy to install and remove.

Development and Application

Steel flooring can be used in heavy industrial manufacturing plants and various special places that require high flooring standards:

1. Used in electroplating plants, PCB factories, and environments with acidic or alkaline corrosion.

2. Used in heavy machinery factories, hardware factories, glass factories, and workshops prone to impact.

3. Used in laboratories, electronics factories, food factories, dust-free workshops, high-level clean rooms, precision instrument workshops, and other industries.

4. Used in production workshops, warehouses, docks, and other areas where high strength, super wear resistance, corrosion resistance, dust resistance, pressure resistance, and long service life are required.

5. Solves problems such as traditional floor paint not being able to be used for a long time, requiring regular painting, and being prone to wear and tear. It not only improves aesthetics but also enhances firmness.
